Factories and Workshops
Everyone knows that Santa Claus and his elves are master toymakers, but Department 56 takes it one step further with their North Pole Series. They have unleashed their imaginations and set up factories and workshops at the North Pole for virtually everything that is associated with Christmas. It’s almost as if all of your childhood dreams have suddenly come to life.
Not content just to have Santa’s Workshop (retired), the folks at Department 56 with all the toys and goodies associated with Christmas, Santa must have specialty factories and workshops all over the North Pole, creating everything (and anything) a child could desire.
Sure the traditional Christmas treat is a peppermint candy cane, but this is Santa we’re talking about so nothing is too sweet for all the good little boys and girls. With that in mind, some of the sweet shops you’ll encounter at the North Pole are the Yummy Gummy Gumdrop Factory, The North Pole M & M Candy Factory, the Peanut Brittle Factory and the Sweet Rock Candy Company.
But as tasty as those treats are, Santa’s and the elves special talent is with toys, and there are an abundance of toy shops and factories making all kinds of Christmas favorites. Not only do they turn out great toys, but some of the shops names simply make you smile. Some of my favorites are Robbie’s Robot Factory, Jolly’s Jigsaw Puzzle Workshop, Nollie and Ollie’s Custom Snowboards, the Tin Soldier Shop, Dumpy’s Toy Trucks, Toots Model Train Manufacturing and the Jack in the Box Plant #2.
In addition to toys and treats, Christmas also requires its own unique accessories. Fortunately, Santa had the foresight to set up factories at the North Pole to make these holiday essentials, including Flurry’s Snow Globe Maker, the Glass Ornament Works, and of course (my favorite) the Real Plastic Snow Factory (nobody makes real plastic snow like Santa).
